Letters to The Ethical Spectacle

Spectacle Letters Column Guidelines. Send your comments to me at jw@bway.net. I will assume the letter is for publication. If it is not, please tell me, and I will respect that. I have gotten into the habit of leaving out full names and email addresses; I have had too many people think better of something they said fifteen years ago. If you want your name and email included, let me know. Flames, however, will be published with full name and email address.

Dear Mr. Wallace,

I found your article about Craigslist, and I just want to say, I really enjoyed it, One of the few great exposes on internet! and same things are happening to our business. Thanks for writing it..... Though, its strange that it seems all articles are back from 09.... doesnt anyone complain anymore... Its still happening. .... I just wanted to say, I searched thru the forums for 3 days, many different search terms....and yes, got disgusted with the smarmy "helpers" that seem to spend their lives their...getting off on being insulting, and giving trite answers... I made a vigilant effort in trying to read the forums to get advice and every thread, every search....kept noticing the same handles replying and giving their rude, sarcastic advice, .....what help is this? I read that these people are former CL volunteers...wouldnt be surprised if they got kickbacks from CL, or incentives to throw people off...or they are secretly employed to answer and not help....never any solid advice...just, give your account a break, wait 2 days, wait 2 weeks, wait 2 months....

I just wanted to say thank for posting a very well written, well researched post about your experience. Your article still comes up and helps those of us that just experienced Cl tactics to not even bother with going into that forum or contacting staff. Reading your article made me feel a lot better, yours was the only one of few I found that commented on the rudeness of the insulting/non-helping, sarcastic nature of the help forums....yuck.
